Unschooling Life Introductory Panel

Friday, May 24 11:00 am-12:00 pm
Fort Vancouver Ballroom

Formerly The Big 6

What happens when we bring unschooling principles of trust, partnership, and mutual respect into our everyday lives with our families?

Wrapping our brains around the idea of unschooling as an alternative to school is a big first step, but did you know that unschooling can also expand beyond academics? When we incorporate unschooling principles into daily life with our children, we can witness the true magic and joy of learning and living together.

Well known for many years as “The Big 6” this panel concept was initiated years ago by Robyn Coburn. It has become a favorite presentation at many unschooling conferences for its frank discussions and Q & A about how unschooling parents interact with their children around the “Big 6” topics of sleep, chores, food, television, electronic gaming, and personal hygiene/appearance/self care. As times have changed, other topics have also come into this arena including social media, streaming services, mental health and more, leading to a broader and more holistic concept of unschooling life.

This Introductory Panel session will be an opportunity to hear from a wide variety of long time unschooling families on how they have unschooled most if not all aspects of their lives together. In the subsequent Circle Chats, you may bring your questions, or sit back and consider the possibilities of how this could look in your own family. There is no requirement to attend the Introductory Panel to attend the Circle Chats.

Circle Chats will be offered throughout the conference for any attendees wishing to continue or join the conversation, each will be facilitated by one or more of the panelists. Some of these will be scheduled, and some will be impromptu - be sure you join the LIFE is Good Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/16647232196) to stay informed of these and other last minute get-togethers!
